Product description

Large round Corten planter Ø80 - cylinder for the terrace

This large, round Corten steel planter with a diameter of 80 cm is a solitaire-class container. This large, round garden planter has the depth and volume to accommodate a tree or a stately shrub, and its soft round shape balances the sharp, rectangular shapes of the patio. It acts as a natural center of gravity for the arrangement—attracting the eye and organizing the space around it, making it perfect for a patio or a formal entrance.

Design, form and finish

The planter's shell is smoothly rolled from a sheet of Corten steel, without visible welds around the perimeter, giving the cylinder a light and uniform appearance despite its large scale. The patina spreads evenly across the plant—from cool gray, through orange, to the warm rusty brown shown in the photo. The round shape emphasizes the plant's shape rather than competing with it, and presents well from all angles, which is appreciated when placed freestanding.

Where will a large round flowerpot work best?

A large round planter is a classic choice for representative spaces. Placed at an entrance, on a patio, or in a commercial space, it creates a striking accent; alone, it creates a sense of scale, and in a pair, it creates a symmetrical frame for a doorway or driveway. As an outdoor planter, a round planter also works well as a culmination of a garden viewpoint or as a focal point for a patio, around which the rest of the plantings are arranged.

What plants to plant

This planter is perfect for trees and large plants. An olive tree (as pictured), a Japanese maple, larger ornamental grasses, or a trimmed boxwood shaped into a ball look best in it. Around the trunk, you can plant low, groundcover perennials or herbs like rosemary, which will utilize the large surface area and soften the pot's edge.

Dimensions and capacity

A diameter of 80 cm and a height of approximately 60 cm provide a very large cubic capacity, which means stable root conditions and less frequent watering. This large round outdoor planter will accommodate the tree's root ball, along with a drainage layer. The full cylindrical shape is also heavy and resistant to tipping, which is important for tall plants exposed to wind.

Corten steel, 2 mm sheet metal and care

The planter is made of 2mm Corten steel with a welded bottom and drainage holes, handcrafted in Poland. Corten steel is frost-resistant and maintenance-free, and the natural rust acts as a protective coating—no painting or sealing necessary. During the first few weeks of patination, it's worth remembering that water dripping from the coating can temporarily stain light-colored surfaces, so coasters are a good starting point.

Frequently asked questions

Can I plant a tree in a round Corten Ø80 pot?

Yes. 80 cm in diameter and ample depth will accommodate a tree (e.g., an olive) or a large shrub—leave room for the root ball and drainage.

Is the casing of the large pot tight at the joint?

The walls are smoothly rolled, and the bottom is welded. Drainage holes are provided in the bottom, allowing excess water to drain freely.

How does the color of Corten steel change over time?

From steel gray, through orange, to deep rusty brown. The process usually takes several months and depends on weather and exposure.

Is a large round pot stable under a tall tree?

Yes. The large diameter solid cylinder and the weight of the planted substrate ensure high stability; it's best to fill the pot at the final location.

Is the flowerpot suitable for public spaces?

Yes. Durable 2mm sheet metal and weather resistance make it suitable for entrances, walkways, and food courts.
